Halloween Costumes For Infants: When It Comes To Costumes
Infants Can Wear, Simple is Best
You can generally find Halloween costumes for infants at your local costume store or toy
store, but you will usually find a much larger selection online.
The Web is also a great place to get creative costume
ideas, or you could just be spontaneous and come up with something for your baby by yourself.
One way to come up with Halloween costumes for infants is to consider whether or not to use your infant as an
accessory. By this I don't mean to literally attach your baby to you, but to make your costumes compliment one
another.
Back several years ago, my then five year old niece, wanted to dress up as Alice in Wonderland for Haloween. So, my
cousin decided to go as a giant mushroom and it was a pretty strange and funny looking costume.
This made a perfectly complimentary outfit for her Alice in Wonderland costume, except they had to come up
with an idea for his baby girl, who was then about 4 months old.
Since they had an Alice in Wonderland theme already, they decided to make the youngest daughter
the Hooka-Smoking-Caterpillar of the story with an infant costume like
this one.
Which brings us to a point: when it comes to Halloween costumes for infants, simple is
better.
As I'm sure you already know, infants can and will grab, pull and rip anything they can get their hands on.
Including the complex baby Halloween costume that you spent hours putting together and getting them into.
So rather than see your hard work come undone in a matter of minutes, cut your losses and go with a minimalist
approach.
I saw this creative costume idea put to good use a few years back at
a party when a friend of mine showed up with her newborn in costume. She was a martini glass, and her son was an
olive. It worked perfectly and while it may not have been the best costume of the night it was certainly up
there.
Of course halloween costumes for infants don't have to be group costume theme, but considering that your infant will likely not
remember what you dress them as, I say it's best to come up with a theme the whole family can enjoy.
Plus, later in life, you can show them Halloween pictures of when you dressed them as an olive. Photos of these
Halloween costumes for infants are priceless! Have a happy Halloween.
